their first breath.jpg

There is something so magical about those first few weeks after you bring your baby home. They are so fresh and tiny, sleepy and new, and every little movement is a reminder that it wasn’t that long ago that they were stretching and kicking inside of you.

I would love to celebrate your baby’s arrival with your family and document all of these first moments of you together. Every newborn session includes family portraits, sibling portraits, and individual portraits of the baby. Newborn sessions typically occur in the first 2-3 weeks after the baby is born, and most families contact me to book their session in the second trimester to be sure to save a spot on the calendar before their baby arrives.

We offer a few types of newborn sessions, so read on to see which is the right fit for your family!

Studio Sessions.PNG

Our boutique studio in Saratoga Springs, NY, is the perfect spot for a more traditional session for your newborn.  The studio is fully stocked with soft, neutral colors of blankets, wraps, headbands, wooden floor backdrops, and little props to subtly complement your baby in his or her first portrait session.  Your studio session will include 3-4 unique set ups for your baby, as well as a mix of parent, sibling, and family images.

These sessions typically last 2-3 hours, and are relaxed and calm to work around the baby’s schedule.  We allow plenty of time for feedings, cuddles, and kisses to ensure that your baby is nice and sleepy so that we can get those sweet little curled up poses that everyone loves so much!

Tiny little fingers and tiny little toes. One of my favorite things about a newborn baby is their sleepy little yawn and the way they curl up and nestle against your chest.

Our lifestyle newborn sessions are a relaxed peek into your family’s life at home as you cuddle up with your new baby.  I will come to your home for a 1.5-2 hour session, and I will bring my camera and a few simple wraps for your baby.  Sessions are calm and natural, without any posing, as we capture those tender moments between your family and your new baby.

These sessions are ideal if you have plenty of natural light flowing through the windows of your home.  We will need a clean and uncluttered space for the photographs, and I ask that you tidy up the nursery and the master bedroom before I arrive.  We’ll capture some photos of you cuddling with your baby in the nursery, your baby in their crib, and all of the tiny decorating details that you thoughtfully and lovingly set up in your baby’s room during those last weeks of your pregnancy.

WHAT DO WE WEAR FOR OUR NEWBORN SESSION?

I have so many tips to help make this easy for you, but for starters, light neutrals always look best on camera. Dresses look amazing on new moms, as do cardigans and flowy white tops. Click the image above for all of my outfit tips!

Do you have dresses for new moms to wear?

Yes! I have a closet filled with dresses for new mamas and you are welcome to borrow any of the dresses for your session. Simply mark your favorites in the gallery by clicking the image above and I will have them ready for you the day of your session!

When should I schedule my newborn session?

I recommend reaching out in the second or early in the third trimester to save a flexible date on the calendar. We typically photograph newborns 1-3 weeks after they are born. We pencil in a date for your session and then adjust it as necessary if the baby arrives early or late.
